description:   僕が身を置くインターネット界隈において「インターン」というキーワードがよく聞かれるようになったのは、今から5、6年前くらいでしょうか。それ以前にもインターンは存在していたと思いますが、インターネットベンチャーがインターンを積極的に登用するようになったのは、やはり5、6年前、2011年以降のような気がします。   ベンチャー企業がインターンを積極的に登用するようになったのはなぜか？自分なりに考えてみました。   2011年〜12年頃とはどういう時代だったのか。リーマンショックの後遺症、東日本大震災など、経済全体で見ると取り巻く環境は厳しいものがありました。しかしインターネットベンチャーにおいてはそこまでマクロな要因による影響を受けません。そんなことよりもこの時期インターネット界隈では「スマホシフト」という10年に一度の大きな波がやってきていました。   「ガラケー」と呼ばれるいわゆるフィーチャーフォンの時代が終わり、スマホが圧倒的に普及していった時代。それだけでなく、パソコンの利用時間をもスマホはどんどん奪っていくようになり、それまでパソコン、ガラケーで大きな勢力を持っていたサービスの牙城が崩れ始める予兆が見られるようになりました。   そんな時代、スマホをキーワードに新たな覇者を目指し立ち上がった数多くの若者。その若者が立ち上げた会社の中にはものすごい勢いで成長するとこも現れました。いわゆる「スタートアップ」の登場です。起業間もないベンチャーのことを「スタートアップ」と呼ぶのが一般化してしまいましたが、本来の「スタートアップ」とは圧倒的成長をする創業間もない会社のことをさすので、全部が全部「スタートアップ」というわけではないのですが、まぁこの時期「スタートアップ」と呼ばれる若い起業家率いるベンチャーが数多く生まれました。   20代前半の若い社長のもとには大学生が数多く集まるのは必然。スタートアップで働く大学生達、彼らこそ「インターン」であり、その流れがスタートアップだけでなく、多くのベンチャーやメガベンチャーにも広がった。
